My name is Pat Oakes and I have over 25 years experience in the catering industry working as a chef in the early years in two of the best hotels in England and then developing my career in contract catering. Latterly I worked in an educational environment supporting schools and colleges. I understand the challenges within the Government’s “food standards” and “every child matters” umbrellas.
In October 2008 I launched “The Fun Food Chef” with the simple aim of making a difference to the children and schools or clients I visit or cater for.
I love food and enjoy seeing others developing new tastes and a passion for food. I also enjoy growing my own herbs, fruit and vegetables in a way that is gentle on the environment. Having a young son I know the enjoyment and satisfaction children can gain from fun experiences; in the garden watching his food grow and in the kitchen preparing then eating his food.
I have an enhanced DBS certificate 001470040646 .I also operate from a fully commercial kitchen inspected by the Local Environmental Health Officer and passed to a very good standard awarding 5 stars in the scores on the doors scheme. All electrical appliances I use are PAT tested.
Over the last few years, well over 100 schools and 1000’s of children have experienced “The Fun Food Chef” supporting topics within their Creative Curricula and also supporting Health Weeks. Our sessions have a unique approach of encouraging children to eat healthily whilst exploring their topics, learning and having fun.
They are sessions that are inspiring, fun, exciting, loud and, above all, interactive learning experiences. Your children learn about world foods and their ever changing tastes whilst linking directly to their topic.
Whether it is World War 2 or the wonderful African continent, they are inspired.
