Wow what a start to 2017. It’s been fantastic for the schools involved across Wirral, Halton and Yorkshire. Some new and some old schools have enjoyed the educational food workshops that I run, with the children, and in some cases parents reveling in the experience. They all enjoy cooking up feasts in my unique cooking way that they all get to sample and enjoy whilst it’s at its best. Educating through music, food and fun. Nothing goes home it’s all about the children exploring their ever changing tastes in healthy food whist it’s at its very best.
Next stops include Cheshire, Liverpool and Lancashire not to mention my home of Wirral.
Chinese New Year has been the main focus but also Greek, African, WW2 and Pizza fun have also been the focus. The highlight perhaps my visit to Ravenshall School, a large day special school in Yorkshire. These experiences stay with the children for years. At Widnes Academy it was 6 years since my previous visit and year 6 still told me of my last visit, menu and all!
Although very busy after half term there are still spaces you may wish to secure to ensure your children can benefit from these topic related food workshops that will inspire and leave them with memories that will last for years.
Please get in fast though and drop me an email. After half term is busy and June already pretty full.
What some times is missed is the fantastic work that my sessions encourage back in the class room. At St Bert’s in Runcorn this wonderful piece of writing was inspired through cooking. Whilst all the facts are not quite true the work and enthusiasm from this pupil is stunning. Click on “Creative Writing” to see this wonderful work.
It should be said that this is fantastic, but perhaps the most touching is seeing the work of children that have put pen to paper, when teachers have previously had difficulties in getting them to do so. I always feel privileged when such work is shared with me, practically when I to had such difficulties at school. It is so important that my sessions are capitalized on back in the classroom.
The parent sessions are fantastic and the requests for recipes always follow after such a session through E-mail, Twitter and Facebook. Many parents can’t believe how easy cooking from fresh ingredients is! If one or two leave the packets behind and buy fresh ingredients then what a result, and if they get the children involved cooking with Mum’s and Dad’s then even better.
Go on email me now and see what I can do for you and your pupils. #healthyeating #funfoodchef
